What is Sertraline?

Does Sertraline help with premature ejaculation?

Since one of the side effects of Sertraline includes delayed orgasm, it works beneficially for men having a premature release. Studies have shown that this drug can dramatically improve the intravaginal ejaculation latency time.

A study conducted in 1998 on 46 men between 22 to 63 years indicated that their mean ejaculatory interval had considerably increased after consuming Sertraline.

The study began by giving oral sertraline tablets to the patients. Initially, a lower dose of 25 mg was given and later, it was increased to 50 mg and 100 mg.

The results were fascinating:

  • 25 mg dosage-The mean ejaculatory interval increased from 1 minute to 7.6 minutes
  • 50 mg dosage-The mean ejaculatory gap improved to 13.1 minutes
  • 100 mg dosage-The mean ejaculatory gap improved to 16.4 minutes

The side effects were very minimal during this period.

Another study indicated that men who had premature ejaculation could improve their mean ejaculatory time to 5 minutes after consuming 50 mg of Sertraline daily.

How to take Sertraline for PE?

Sertraline is commonly consumed in the form of oral medication. Your doctor will carefully evaluate your symptoms and general health status to prescribe you the correct dosage.

For the desired results, this medication has to be consumed regularly. Therefore, it might take up to four weeks to show the best results after consumption.
