This treatment is a once-weekly injection from a newer class of medications known as dual incretin treatments. Unlike traditional GLP-1 medications, it activates two natural gut hormones; GLP-1 and GIP, which work together to regulate appetite, improve fullness after meals, support metabolic health and help control blood sugar.

By mimicking both hormones at the same time, it delivers stronger effects on appetite and metabolism than GLP-1 treatments alone. The active ingredient, has been shown to reduce hunger, cut cravings, improve control of eating and help people feel fuller for longer. These effects can lead to eating fewer calories and, over time, significant weight loss.

A major clinical trial involving more than 2,500 adults without diabetes (SURMOUNT-1) found that participants taking weekly treatment achieved up to 22.5% weight loss over 72 weeks, equivalent to around 20–25 kg or more, depending on starting weight. These results were achieved alongside simple lifestyle changes such as healthier eating and regular physical activity.

Treatment starts at RM1,150 per month for the 2.5 mg starter dose, which lasts for your first 4 weeks.

After this, your dose typically increases each month, so your monthly cost will rise unless you and your doctor decide to remain on a lower dose.

In your second month, most patients move to 5 mg (RM1,600). Based on your goals and how your body responds, you may later progress to 7.5 mg (RM2,000) or 10 mg (RM2,200): higher doses that provide stronger and more sustained weight-loss results.
